Steve grew up in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, and began fishing for trout and bluegill at a very early age. After graduating from high school, Steve entered the workforce, and was invited on a bass fishing trip by a co-worker. This led to the formation of a bass fishing club and life-long passion for Bass Fishing. In the late seventies, Steve started a new career with the Chesterfield County Fire Department. His new schedule gave him the time he needed to pursue his goal of becoming a professional Bass Fisherman. By the early 1980’s, Steve had left club fishing and was fishing bigger team and draw tournaments such as V.B.F.A, Pro Am Teams, Red Man and any event he could find. In October, 2009, Steve competed in and won the Bass Fishing League Potomac River Regional Championship. His experience, dedication, and skill earned him a fully loaded Ranger 198VX, a Cheverolet 1500 Silverado, and the chance to compete in the BFL All-American competition in May, 2010.
Steve also enjoys hunting with both gun and bow. Nine of Steve’s numerous deer were recorded in Pope and Young’s Record Book, the largest scoring 185. One of the deer taken by gun made Boone and Crockett’s Record book with a score of 179.
